Indoor Apartment range hoods
Often apartment range hood ducts can be quite long this causes back pressure on the range hood fan. When this happens a booster fan is often installed to run when ever the range hood fan runs. Traditionally this has required the site electrician to open the range hood and add extra wiring, this voids the range hood’s warranty and adds a lot of extra labour from the electrician. AB Controls has designed a solution for this problem which has been used in hundreds of apartments. Our ABC FR3 A0A is perfect for this. Drill a 20mm hole into the cupboard above the range hood and bring the wiring from the booster fan though this hole, mount the ABC FC3 A0A unit over this hole, then simply plug the unit into the range hood power point and plug the range hood into the ABC FR3 A0A. All done. From now on the current sensor will pick up when the range hood is running and automatically start the booster fan. If you wish you can also choose to install our ABC SW2 CA in the apartment switchboard and control from there.
Outdoor BBQ gas valve control
With legislation changes (AS 1668 & AS 5601) for kitchen fan and gas valve control we have now added a range of controllers designed specifically for the Australian market from alfresco areas to schools and large commercial kitchens.
Many of us have taken the area around our outdoor BBQ and enclosed it, unfortunately this area becomes an alfresco area and your BBQ is no longer suitable as it is not correctly vented. Australian standards for BBQ gas appliances have been changed so they can be used providing they have a suitable range hood and the range hood is interlocked to an approved gas valve.
AB Controls have been working with CGE services to develop a control unit to solve this issue and we have been selling these for several years now. You can purchase our GV2 and GV4 versions from reputable BBQ suppliers in a kit with suitable gas valves.

this means mean you often have to interlock your range hood supply and extraction system with a GFA signal. We have your back with our new ABC SW4-KT control module. This connects directly with the general fire alarm signal (GFA) and your supply and extraction fans. we will soon be add Gas proving to the module, contact us for more information.
